You can see the block freeze plugs and cam plug were left out.  No idea why, but they are here. Front View My first bit of work.  This is a 3/8 to 1/2 brass adapter from Lowes for the ECT.  I had to cut it down on the 1/2" end, but it seems to work good. Old ECT temp installed.  Should work fine with no leaks.  Ignore the fram filter, that's there for shipping purposes only.

A view of how big the hole in the head is compared to the stock sized ECT.  I still have to find a plug for the passenger side head. Fuel Rails trial installed.  The LT4 rail bolt holes were M6x1x35 (40 used here) while the 93 intake was M8x1x35.  Found that out the hard way. Valve cover mock-up.  These stock covers in the process of being polished.  Will look GREAT once finished.  Need to be clearanced for rockers still. That says "BRE/LESW001" identifying my BRE custom blower Cam specced for my LE ported Trick Flow heads on the motor.

Whoops!  Dropped the hood while taking it off and left a nice headlight door dent and some scratches on the fender.  Dammit. Out with the old!!!!! Muahahahahahahaha!!!!! Think I had an oil leak somewhere?  There's LOTS of degreasing to be done.

Uh oh....... Yeah....that didn't come off so nice. Note the two supports.  Upper for the cover, lower impact bar.   Not as meanacing now.

Fog lights mounted to impact bar.  This poses an issue for removal.  May be cutting center section out and leaving outers. It's hollow at least, so cutting should be an issue.  Not too worried about accidents as even though it's a street car, it won't see THAT much time. That's a lot of weight up there though. Big picture:  Making room to test fit a horizontal FMIC, and access to rad lower support for repositioning to stand everything up.

Fuel System:  -AN Fittings for the Rails

The goal of this was to set the fuel rails up for -AN fittings WITHOUT having to weld.  With some guidance from Jered (Roadie from CamaroZ28.com) and some searching, I found a combination that should work dandy, as seen in the pics.  Yes, the front fittings are different (thanks Summit) but this is NOT a finished product, just a trial fitting that looks like it's going to work FINE.

Here you can see how I cut the lip off of the back of the passenger rail.  This was on my band saw, and surprisingly did the trick like a champ. Here you can see the configuration of the front of the feed line.  That sucker was IN there, even with the lip cut off. After some sanding, the back of the rail has a nice smooth surface.  I intentionally left the groove around the opening as a recess for an o-ring to bite into. The front 90* fittings, -6AN to 1/8 NPT.  I used a 1/8 NPT tap inside the INNER hole for the crossover, and a thick but small diameter O-Ring.  Those things are in there tight and should be leak free.

The rear of the rails used a 3/4x16 tap, same size as a -8AN.  The fitting is a -8 to -8 O-Ring fitting.  You MUST use a bottoming tap because a normal taper tap will NOT cut enough threads for the fitting to sit in all the way. The finished product is going to include black powder coating on the rails.  Unfortunately a pressure test on these is some time off as I still have to build the dual in-tank pump setup still, and find funds for all the line and fittings I'll be using. Update:  Sept 15th.  Got them back from the powder coaters.  All I need are the wide mouth fittings on the front and they're done (wrong fittings installed for show). Go ahead, admit it.  They're hot, you like them.

Gotta clearance the BMR K-Member drivers side mount. All fixed.  That's 1/4" plate steel, so I was comfortable grinding on it.  If I feel it necessary I'll put in some fillet bracing. All mocked up!  Ready to come apart and start getting cleaned up and into the car. Passenger side view.
